316. RETIREMENT PLANS

316.1. Retirement Plan

The City's benefit program for member employees under the retirement system shall be the most current Benefit Program adopted by the City Council.

316.2. LAGERS

The City elects to have covered by the Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System all its eligible employees in the following classes: present and future general employees; present and future firefighters; and present and future police officers.

316.3. Prior Service

The City elects that one hundred (100) percent of prior City of Lee's Summit employment be considered for prior service credit in computing benefits.

316.4. Final Average Salary

A sixty (60) consecutive-month period shall be used for determining a member employee's final average salary under the retirement system, in accordance with RSMo 70.600 and 70.656.

316.5. Retirement age

Retirement for general employees is age 60 and retirement age for sworn fire and police officers is 55. Early retirement is defined in Section 701. Retirement from City employment is required for firefighters and police officers, at the end of the month in which an employee reaches seventy (70) years of age.

316.6. Deferred Compensation

Employees may also elect to contribute to any of the City's deferred compensation plans.
