503 NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION
503.1 Purpose
To ensure that all new employees are oriented to City mission, vision, values, pay and benefits, personnel policies, safety, computer training, and customer service expectations.
503.2 Training
Human Resources provides timely information to all new employees on the first day of employment to include new hire forms, benefits, payroll, and computer training.
The City of Lee's Summit conducts a more formal new employee orientation session for all new employees to further familiarize them with City operations and organizational structure. The second day of orientation is scheduled by Human Resources.
503.3 Responsibility of Supervisor
It is the responsibility of the supervisor, in coordination with Human Resources, to ensure that all new employees attend this orientation at the earliest opportunity.
Specific orientation to the new employee's department is provided by the supervisor.
This training is comprehensive and includes demonstration and verification of competency in specific job skills, department policies and procedures, and safety roles/practices.
503.4 Documentation
Attendance in the City's new employee orientation is documented in the Human Resources orientation file through use of a sign in sheet. Department orientation is documented according to departmental procedure and retained in the department file.
