Purpose

The purpose of the City of Lee's Summit's website is to provide information about the City's government and services.   The City of Lee's Summit's  website  may provide links to websites outside the City's website that also serve this purpose.   The City is not responsible for and does not endorse the information on any linked website unless the City's website states otherwise. (Administrative Policy No. 06-01, Exhibit A)


Policy

  1. Links to sites containing inappropriate adult material are expressly prohibited.
  2. To avoid the appearance of City endorsement of political content, links shall not be made to sites that are associated with, sponsored by or serving a candidate for elected office, any political party or organization advocating or seeking to defeat any candidate for elective office or any ballot proposal.  

Links provided by the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri:

  • Official government websites including federal, state and local.
  • An organization who's website primarily promotes the economic welfare, volunteerism, and industry of Lee's Summit.
  • An organization who's website primarily provides health, public safety, natural disaster, or weather information that affects the City of Lee's Summit.
  • Educational institutions, including and limited to area school districts, elementary and secondary schools and colleges.
  • Local Hospitals, Utility Companies, Newspapers and Public Libraries.
  • Software vendors providing web browser plug-ins needed to display information on the City's website.
  • Websites providing information which precludes City staff from recreating or duplicating information or provides specific information supplementing information that is already provided on the City's website.
  • Organizations providing the public with information or access to the arts, humanities, culture or education.
  • Organizations with a purpose statement of supporting an enterprise operation (Airport, Landfill, Parks & Recreation).

  1. Identifies the city, state, federal or other rules, contractual obligations, laws and reasons for having this policy.   List them each, with reference to specifics and links if possible.
