ITS will maintain IT Policies, Procedures and Standards.


Scope

  • A. Coverage; ITS Steering Committee Members, ITS  Managment and Personnel, City Management Team and any other parties who have ownership in ensuring effective IT  Policies are in place.  
  • B. Assignment; Use a RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed)  Chart.   Add rows and columns as needed...the wiki editor makes this fairly simple.   An EXAMPLE is below...make your version to reflect the assignment of roles specific to this procedure

Triggers

  1. New laws, regulations, contractual obligations or other directive which requires new or modified IT  Policies
  2. Request for clarification to existing policy.
  3. Request to create policy which will address a void in existing IT  practices or in response to changing technology

Procedure

  1. ITS  Notified of a need for a new or modified IT  Policy.
  2. Proposed and required changes will be drafted by ITS
  3. Final draft to be approved by CTO.
  4. The IT Steering Committee will review, revise and make recommendation.
  5. The Management Team will be given a copy of recommended policies from IT  Steering Committee to review and approve.
  6. CTO  will send IT  Policies as approved by the City Management Team to the City  Manager for approval.
  7. ITS will update the Policy on the offical IT  Policy Web Site after City Manager Approval.
  8. When applicable, training materials and communications will be created for employees regarding the changes.
