213 SNOW COMPENSATION FOR EXEMPT EMPLOYEES (Effective 12/15/2022)

Policy Purpose: To provide appropriate compensation for exempt employees who assist with snow-related activities during a snow event.

Definitions: Exempt employee shall be defined as a salaried employee.

Weekday ‘A’ shift shall be defined as 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.

Weekday ‘B’ shift shall be defined as 7:00 p.m. Sunday to 7:00 a.m. Monday, 7:00 p.m. Monday to 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. Tuesday to 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. Wednesday to 7:00 a.m. Thursday, or 7:00 p.m. Thursday to 7:00 a.m. Friday. All ‘B’ shift hours worked shall be reported on the day the shift ended.

Weekend ‘A’ shift shall be defined as 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday.

Weekend ‘B’ shift shall be defined as 7:00 p.m. Friday to 7:00 a.m. Saturday or 7:00 p.m. Saturday to 7:00 a.m. Sunday. All ‘B’ shift hours worked shall be reported on the day the shift ended.

Holiday shift shall be defined as any shift that ends on a City-approved holiday.

Policy Statements:

• Exempt employees must receive Supervisor approval prior to assisting with any snow-related activities.

Exempt Non-Supervisor Stipend: Exempt employees performing non-supervisory snow-related activities, such as driving a snowplow or answering phone calls, during a snow event shall be compensated in a flat stipend, as follows:

Exempt Supervisor Stipend: Exempt employees assigned Snow Shift Supervisor or Snow Desk Supervisor during a snow event shall be compensated in a flat stipend, as follows:
